The Columbus riverfront project is moving forward after years of delays over permitting and funding.
Columbus Mayor Mary Ferdon said Milestone contractors will begin work focusing on safety features.
“We went back, we pulled out the in-river piece, which a lot of people were excited about," Ferdon said. "But you know, you just got to move forward. And so we were able to kind of regroup and start over.”

The area needing repair runs along the East Fork of the White River between the 2nd and 3rd street bridges.
Work includes removing a low-head dam, stabilizing the bank, and connecting the riverfront trail. The project will cost just under 12-million-dollars.
