And On Piano, Oscar Peterson...

The great Canadian pianist Oscar Peterson was one of jazz's great virtuosos, the "Maharaja of the Keyboard," according to Duke Ellington. Peterson was an artist could dazzle at the keyboard like Art Tatum. But he could also fade comfortably into the background, providing just the right sensitive touch for another musician to shine. This hour, we'll hear Peterson alongside many of the great singers of his day like Ella Fitzgerald, Fred Astaire, Billie Holiday, and more. We'll also hear Peterson accompanying himself on one of his only  vocal records:  Romance: The Vocal Styling of Oscar Peterson recorded in the early 1950s.
