Indianapolis food trucks are facing legal enforcement for serving after dark.
A 36-year-old city ordinance currently prohibits trucks selling food between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Other ordinances include where the trucks can park.
The ordinance's wording includes references to loudspeaker music as well.
"When you read the entire ordinance, it's basically governing ice cream trucks," said Marc Lotter with the mayor's office.
Mayor Greg Ballard has recognized the ordinances barring trucks are outdated, and has called on the City-County Council to update.
Indianapolis is home to 25 licensed food trucks serving everything from tacos and Asian cuisine to cheese steaks and burgers.
