Creepy Crawlies

This symphonic poem depicts creepy nocturnal happenings. The original title also referred to when these dark deeds took place, on the eve of a traditional religious holiday. When his colleagues were disappointed by the work, the composer withdrew it, although he eventually worked parts of it into a comic opera! After his death, a famous friend heavily edited the piece, producing the version that is best known today. Appearing in Walt Disney's "Fantasia," it has become one of the iconic examples of "scary" classical music.
