Area Superintendents Discuss Issues Facing K-12 Education

On August 27th's Noon Edition, Brown County Superintendent David Shaffer and Monroe County Community School Superintendent Dr. J.T. Coopman appeared on the program to discuss issues such as budget cuts, teacher layoffs, and the general state of K-12 education in Indiana.

Dr. Coopman discussed the upcoming voter referendum and spoke about it was a community led effort, not a school corporation led effort. He also discussed how different funding accounts pay for different things. Therefore, a new school can be built, but it may not have enough teachers to staff it.

Mr. Shaffer discussed the referendum facing Brown County, and his commitment to adult education programs in his corporation.
