Gov. Pence's New Drug Task Force

Indiana ranks 16th highest in the country for all drug overdoses. This week Gov. Mike Pence established a drug task force by executive order, calling the initiative a “collaborative approach to addressing substance abuse.”

The task force includes multiple state agencies, representatives from all three branches of government, medical experts and drug treatment and prevention specialists.

This week on Noon Edition we spoke with leaders from around the state about Indiana's drug addiction problem, how communities are responding, and what impact the new task force might have.

Our guests:

  • Linda Grove-Paul, Vice President for Recovery and Innovation at Centerstone
  • Mary Beth Bonaventura, Director of the Indiana Department of Child Services and member of the new drug task force
  • Sen. Jim Merrittmember of the new drug task force
  • You can ask questions by joining our live chat below, following us on Twitter @NoonEdition or calling in to the program at (812) 855-0811.
