Noon Edition airs on Fridays at noon on WFIU.
The Regional Opportunity Initiatives was established in 2016 with the goal of improving various aspects of living in an 11 county region it refers to as the Indiana Uplands.
The Uplands consist of 11 counties, including Brown, Monroe, and Owen.
In 2014, the Indiana Uplands Strategic Plan was released, which entailed plans for economic development in new areas as well as existing industries.
The initiatives focus on areas like education and workforce development and quality of place.
Some of the key industries in the region are life sciences, national security and defense, and advanced manufacturing.
This week on Noon Edition, we’ll be discussing some of the ROI’s projects and the next steps for the Indiana Uplands Region.
