US Supreme Court to take on cases on abortion rights, 2nd Amendment

Noon Edition airs on Fridays at noon on WFIU.

Eyes are on the nation’s highest court as it takes on abortion rights, the Second Amendment, and the separation of church and state.

With the confirmation of Justice Amy Coney Barrett last year, the court now has 6-3 conservative majority.

And, approval ratings of the court are dropping according to polls from Gallup and Marquette University Law. The Gallup Poll said that 40 percent of Americans approve of the court, which is an all-time low from when Gallup started taking data in 2000.

President Joe Biden formed a commission to study possible changes to the Supreme Court, which could include adding more justices.

This week on Noon Edition, we’ll talk about cases the US Supreme Court is taking on this term, possible outcomes, and public opinion.

You can follow us on Twitter@NoonEditionor send us questions for the show at  news@indianapublicmedia.org .
