The special session comes to a close, here is what we know

Indiana legislators have made their decisions on abortion, inflation, and more. A bill passed banning abortion at zero weeks with the exceptions of rape, incest, health of the mother, or if the fetus has any abnormalities that could be fatal. Some major Indiana companies have criticized the law, saying it will discourage economic growth in the state. 

Another bill that was passed focuses on helping Indiana residents struggling with inflation and high gas prices. This bill provides a refund to eligible taxpayers in the amount of $200. This bill also put $45 million towards the Hoosier Families First Fund. This fund will help allocate money to pregnant mothers and families in need by distributing money to departments such as the Family and Social Services Agency and Department of Child Services. 

The last bill passed addressed issues with tax rates. This bill puts a cap on the gas use tax rate at $0.295 per gallon through June 30, 2023, according to the Indiana legislature. This bill would also provide a temporary sales tax exemption on utilities for residential customers.
