A year since the abortion rulings, here is what changed

Noon Edition airs on Fridays at noon on WFIU.

Last month, the Indiana Supreme Court ruled the state’s near-total abortion ban did not violate the constitution, allowing it to take effect in August. Indiana was the first state to pass a ban following the ruling.

A report by the Society of Family Planning found that there were more than 5,000 fewer abortions per month – about a 6% decline – across the U.S. in the months following the June 2022 ruling overturning Roe compared to the months before.

In the six months following the ruling, states with some kind of abortion ban reported 43,000 fewer people obtained abortions.

Indiana saw an average drop of 165 abortions per month in the six months after the ruling compared to the months just before.

This Friday on Noon Edition, we will talk with guests about these numbers, impacts from the rulings, and more.
