A pilot and two pedestrians were hurt after a small plane missed a Muncie, Indiana, airport runway and crashed onto a trail.

It costs $50 to land a piston-powered, smaller plane, and $100 to land a turbine-powered, bigger business plane.

Detectives, the local coroner's office and an anthropology team from the University of Indianapolis are working to “actively identify the individual,” according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

A multi million-dollar plan to improve the Monroe County Airport lighting system will continue to be delayed through the spring.

Runway Day will be the airport’s first public event since the pandemic, with live music, food trucks, aircraft displays and a car cruise-in.

State police say one person died in a plane crash Friday night near the Monroe County Airport. Police have not released the person’s name.
