Investigators are trying to identify human remains found in a wooded area near the Monroe County airport last week, officials said Friday.
Detectives, the coroner and a team from the University of Indianapolis are working to “actively identify the individual,” the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

It said a hiker discovered the skeletal remains and prompted the investigation.
“Detectives have identified evidence suggesting that foul play is not involved and are reviewing missing person reports from the past year to gather any potential leads,” the statement said.
