The chancellor will serve in the President’s Cabinet and oversee the Office of the Provost, the current leader in Bloomington.

Faculty will vote Tuesday on no confidence resolutions against President Pamela Whitten, Provost Rahul Shrivastav and Vice Provost Faculty and Academic Affairs Carrie Docherty.

Colin Johnson, president of Bloomington’s Faculty Council, announced the vote will take place April 16 between 2:30 - 5:30 p.m. at the IU Auditorium.

The IU Graduate Workers Coalition chose Sept. 25 for the vote on whether to strike. That day also is the add/drop deadline for semester-long classes.

Coalition members said these victories were won by the collective action of graduate workers, the spring semester strike and by the strike they plan for the fall.

IU to hike minimum stipends, waive mandatory fees for grad workers

The university will increase minimum stipends for graduate students to $22,000 and will also cover the $1,435 those students pay in mandatory fees along with course-specific fees.

Whitten selects Rahul Shrivastav for new IU Bloomington provost

Indiana University will have a new provost and executive vice president, Rahul Shrivastav, starting Feb. 15.

Amy Dittmar is vice provost for academic and budgetary affairs at the University of Michigan. She is also a finance professor in the Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
