IU Bloomington announces first provost finalist

Indiana University Bloomington announced the first of five finalists for provost and executive vice president Monday.  

Dittmar is currently vice provost for academic and budgetary affairs at the University of Michigan. She will visit the IU Bloomington campus Tuesday, with a  town hall scheduled from 1-2 p.m. in Whittenberger Auditorium. The town hall will be accessible via Zoom.

Dittmar graduated from IU Bloomington with a Bachelor of Science in finance in 1992, and from University of North Carolina with a PhD in 1999.

Prior to working for the University of Michigan, she taught as an assistant professor at IU from 1999-2003. Her areas of interest are corporate finance, governance, and gender economics. 

Dittmar has also served as an associate editor at the Journal of Financial Economics and a councilor for the Society for Financial Studies.  

The other four finalists for provost and executive vice president will be announced 24 hours before their town hall next week: 

  • Dec. 6 at 3:30–4:30 p.m.
  • Dec. 7 at 5–6 p.m. 
  • Dec. 8 at 5–6 p.m. 
  • Dec 10 at 12–1 p.m.

Following each town hall, IU students, faculty and staff will be able to share feedback about candidates in a survey.
