A Bloomington holiday tradition got an energy efficient makeover.

Workers at Indiana University Bloomington replaced the more than 300 lights that make up two glowing candles on the side of the Indiana Memorial Union with sustainable, LED bulbs.

The candles are meant to be a symbol of the holidays and hospitality.

"In the union we provide a lot of different decoration really to help the place feel more like home," says Hank Walter, Executive Director of the IMU.

The candles will remain lit through New Year's Day.
