The Monroe County Health Department says people who recently ate at Yumble Restaurant in Bloomington should get vaccinated for Hepatitis A because of potential exposure.

Health Department Administrator Penny Caudill says a food handler who worked on January 24 was diagnosed with the highly-contagious liver infection. She says while the risk of contamination is low, people who ate at the restaurant that day should get a Hepatitis A vaccine.

The Monroe County Health Clinic is offering a free vaccination clinic for those people from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Feb. 4.

The department says customers who cannot make it to the clinic should still get a vaccination through their personal medical providers by Feb. 7 to ensure they are safe from infection.

Caudill says Yumble Restaurant closed for cleaning and was thoroughly disinfected. The health department cleared it to reopen.

The State Department of Health says more than 950 people in Indiana were diagnosed with Hepatitis A in the past year, as part of a larger, multistate outbreak. Two people in Indiana have died from the virus.
