South Central Coal Indiana LLC's Landree Mine in Greene County has been cited for various violations, the Indiana Department of Labor announced today.
The Labor Department's Mine Safety and Health Administration gave the mine three unwarrantable failure orders and nine citations.
The unwarrantable failure orders means the mine is required to fix the violations before another inspection.
Landree Mine is one of 12 nationwide targeted by federal inspectors who recently conducted special impact inspections.
The inspections began in April 2010 following the death of 29 miners in the explosion at the Upper Big Branch Mine in West Virginia.
The Labor Department says it chose the 12 mines because they had a history of poor compliance or had been noted for particular compliance concerns.
