Kyle Parker Pleads Guilty To Killing Shaylyn Ammerman

Owen County court records show Kyle Parker pleaded guilty Friday to kidnapping and murdering 1-year-old Shaylyn Ammerman last year. Court documents show it's part of a plea agreement reached with the Owen County Prosecutor's office.

Parker  originally pleaded not guilty to eight charges last year, including rape, child molestation, strangulation and obstruction of justice. If Judge Lori Quillen accepts the plea agreement, all charges but murder and kidnapping will be dropped. The plea agreement stipulates Parker be sentenced to 60 years for murder and 16 years for kidnapping. He would serve both sentences at the same time.

Quillen is taking the plea agreement under advisement and will announce her decision at a Feb. 27 hearing. If she accepts the plea agreement, Parker will be sentenced the same day.

Police brought Parker in for questioning last year after Ammerman went missing from her family's home. Police say Parker eventually confessed to the crime and showed them the location of the toddler's body.
