The RV Industry Association is reporting a slight uptick in September shipments compared to last September. It’s the first time in more than a year the industry has seen positive growth.
In a monthly industry report, RV manufacturers say they shipped 670 more RVs this September than September 2018. The growth was driven by a rise in shipments of smaller travel trailers while large motorhome shipments continue to decline.
James Ashurst is the executive vice president of the RV Industry Association. He says the industry saw years of record growth before the decline that started in 2018. The latest numbers he says, represent a gradual leveling of supply and demand.
“I don’t think we’re looking at record times again in the short term, but the RV market is healthy,” he says. “We feel very confident that the industry is going to remain strong.”
Despite the monthly growth, the report also showed that RV shipments so far for 2019 are down about 20 percent from this time last year.
