Saturday may be the last chance for some Bloomington residents to take advantage of a solar power initiative.
The final information session for the Solarize Bloomington Campaign is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Bloomington City Hall.
The initiative was designed to allow Bloomington and Monroe County residents to purchase solar panels at a discounted rate.
According to the city's website, residents have to attend an information meeting to participate in the campaign.
The initiative was announced in December. "Global warming is the most urgent issue facing our planet," Mayor John Hamilton said in a statement at the time of the announcement. "Each of us needs to be aware of our energy usage and do all we can to become a little more sustainable every day."
Last summer, the Columbus Community Solar Initiative was announced with a goal of bringing 1,000 solar panels to the area.
