Some Columbus residents are already taking advantage of the city's new inoperable car disposal ordinance.
Columbus city leaders are trying to help clean up neighborhoods by towing away abandoned vehicles free of charge.
The ordinance has been in the books for two weeks and Columbus Mayor Jim Lienhoop says it's working.
"They City of Columbus will take that vehicle out to the salvage yard and the owner can get the money that the salvage company would pay for that," Lienhoop says.
He says it helps inoperable car owners of limited means get rid of an eyesore on city streets.
So far two residents have taken advantage of the deal.
