Former Indiana Agency Head Announces Bid For Congress

A former Indiana lawmaker and state agency head is running for Congress, billing himself as a "conservative business leader."

Steve Braun, who led Indiana's Department of Workforce Development until last month, filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission establishing his campaign on Aug. 31.

The Zionsville Republican seeks the seat currently held by Rep. Todd Rokita, who is running for Senate.

Former Mike Pence gubernatorial aide Diego Morales has also announced he is running for the seat representing parts of central and western Indiana.

Braun spent most of his career as a business owner and consultant. He served two years in the Legislature before he was tapped to oversee the state workforce agency by Pence, who is now vice president.
