A lawsuit that claims Indiana University Health Bloomington is monopolizing Monroe County's market won't move forward after IU Health and Monroe Hospital reached a settlement in the case.
Monroe Hospital filed the lawsuit against IU Health Bloomington last year, alleging the sole provider of ambulance services in the county delivered most patients to IU Health, regardless of the distance or patient's preference.
IU Health refuted those claims and asked for the case to be dismissed. But Monroe Hospital filed an amended complaint last month arguing the state did not properly supervise the county ambulance services.
According to court documents, attorneys for both parties told a judge earlier this month they agreed to resolve the matter outside of court.
A judge ordered the case be administratively closed while the hospitals finalize the details of the settlement.
