Weather Now Cooperating As Paoli Peaks Starts Making Snow

The cold weather snap came just in time as workers at Paoli Peaks began making snow for the upcoming winter season.

The recreational skiing business started pumping out snow Wednesday in preparation of opening next weekend. General Manager Rick McMullen says they don't plan on stopping anytime soon.

"As soon as the temperatures decide to stay cold and consistent, that's when we can fire the guns up," McMullen says. "And every opportunity we get we're going to make, at least until we open and even after we open as the season goes on."

Paoli Peaks has struggled in the past few years with mild winters. Last January, unseasonably warm weather forced the business to suspend operations. But it did open a few weeks earlier than normal last season. McMullen says all they can do is hope for the best this year.

"Don't anticipate the winter to be too mild," he says. "Most of the forecasts show it being about average, which is what we would love to see after the last couple winters we've had."

McMullen says he plans for Paoli Peaks to be open for students during Christmas break.
