Committee Assembled To Find New Athletic Director

Indiana University President Michael McRobbie assembled a 14 member search committee to help find IU’s next athletic director.

On Monday, Athletic Director Fred Glass announced his retirement effective at the end of the academic year.

The search committee will be chaired by IU Vice President for Government Relations and Economic Engagement Bill Stephan.

"Bill Stephan has outstanding qualifications to lead this search, and I am very pleased he has agreed to do so," says President McRobbie.

"He has nearly 20 years of experience serving at the most senior levels at IU, and he also knows the state extremely well and knows the passion that Hoosiers have for IU's athletics teams," McRobbie added.

In 2008 Stephan also chaired the committee that led to Glass’s hiring.  In a press release, Stephan says himself nor committee members will comment on the search process.

Retiring Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany will be a special consultant to the committee.
