A staple of the Bloomington restaurant scene is aiming to feed around 100 people for free on New Year’s Day.
Anatolia Restaurant has served traditional Turkish cuisine in Bloomington since 2004. A post on its Facebook page says that “Project: Carry-Out Kindness” is meant to give back to the Bloomington community.
According to the restaurant’s Facebook page, owner Sibel Karakocek also organized a dinner hand-out at Anatolia on Christmas Day and has coordinated several mobile soup kitchens over the holiday season.
“We also know that there are many people in our community who may be feeling a little left out this holiday season for a variety of reasons,” the Facebook post reads. “So, in the holiday spirit, we would like to give back to the community which has supported us for this long and to show our gratitude.”
Karakocek also posted a Facebook call-out for volunteers to help with the New Year’s Day dinner, which will start at 3:00 p.m. at the restaurant’s downtown Fourth Street location.
