A Monroe County judge set aside the week of Sept. 13, 2021 for a trial to resolve a dispute between a landowner and the county.

Last year, Monroe County filed a lawsuit against Joe Huff for ignoring county zoning ordinances. In early 2019, Huff began logging 250 acres of land he owns on South Shady Drive along the shores of Lake Monroe.

Neighbors were concerned with the noise the logging trucks were causing and the possible pollution caused by runoff from Huff’s property.

The lawsuit alleges Huff also constructed two buildings on his property without obtaining the necessary permits.

Huff’s attorney says the work his client is doing on his property is exempt from the county’s ordinances.
