2 Owen Co. Commissioners Won't Seek Reelection

Two of the county commissioners responsible for Owen County’s restrictive festival ordinance will not seek re-election in 2020.

Neither board President Jeff Brothers nor Vice President Steve Williamson submitted paperwork by Friday’s noon filing deadline, meaning two of the three spots on the county’s Board of Commissioners will be open seats.

According to County Auditor Patty Steward, the two started as commissioners in January 2017, with Brothers taking over as president the year after; Williamson also previously served as a commissioner in the 1980s.

Williamson said he would not seek another term for health reasons, and when asked for comment, Brothers said he was too busy to provide a statement.
