Bloomington Transit officials are altering some city bus routes in response to the global coronavirus pandemic.
Bloomington Bus routes 6 and 9, the most heavily-traveled routes, will run on a spring break schedule through April 5, the date set by Indiana University to resume in-person classes on campus.
The rest of the routes will run on a regular schedule.

Precautions are being taken to ensure buses are cleaner than normal during the pandemic.
“We’ve acquired an electrostatic sprayer, and we’re spraying buses with a disinfectant that will kill COVID-19,” says BT Director Lew May.
According to May, buses are cleaned with that chemical each evening.
May says the transit agency has purchased surgical masks and gloves for drivers. If drivers are unable to show up for work because of illness, May says there may be more cutbacks to service.
