As of Friday, the Indiana State Department of Health had not confirmed any cases of coronavirus in Monroe County. And an IU Health official says there is no coronavirus testing being done by anyone but the ISDH.
Chief Medical Officer for IU Health South Central Region Dr. Dan Handel says no tests are currently available at IU Health facilities. He says testing for coronavirus is only available at the state level.

But he adds that most health facilities are looking for ways to expand testing and determining what criteria will be used to decide who gets tests first.
State Health Commissioner Kris Box said Friday that Indiana likely has tens of thousands of people infected with COVID-19, even though limited available tests have only confirmed 12 such cases.
Handel says he encourages people to check their sources of information when they are trying to find out what’s going on with the illness. He suggests the State Department of Health, IUHealth.org and the Centers for Disease Control.
