The funeral for Shaylyn Ammerman occurred last night in Spencer with a private burial afterwards.
Signs on marquees in the Owen County community show the community's support for the family of the 1-year-old girl who was kidnapped, raped and murdered last week.
Family friend Erikah Hubbard says the tragedy is taking a toll on everyone connected to little girl.
"It's very, very horrible and we're slowly trying to get over this, but we can only take it one day at a time," Hubbard says.
Kyle Parker, the man charged with Shaylyn's rape and murder is on suicide watch. His next court date is in May and his trial is tentatively set for August.
