The Indianapolis Zoo has settled on a name for their orangutan baby girl: Mila. The Indonesian name means "dear one."
Sirih the Sumatran orangutan gave birth to the infant on March 23 at 5:07 p.m.
This is the first ever orangutan birth for the Indianapolis Zoo. Orangutan births in the United States are extremely rare, because there aren't enough resources to support very many orangutan infants.
The zoo was considering five names for the baby orangutan and asked the public for help choosing.
