Democratic candidate Mark Bird will face Republican incumbent Mayor Duke Bennett in November's mayoral election. Bird defeated John Walters in the primary election with about three quarters of the votes.
Bird, the older brother of basketball star Larry Bird, is currently in his third four-year term on the county council, which controls county government spending.
Just more than 6 percent of registered voters cast ballots in the Vigo County election.
