How monthly premiums for Hoosiers insured through the federal health care exchange change next year will largely depend on their insurance provider.
Four of eight insurers who sell plans in Indiana through the HealthCare.gov marketplace have filed proposed rate changes for 2016 with the Indiana Department of Insurance that would lower the price of their insurance plans.
Those insurers — MDwise Marketplace Inc., IU Health Plans, Celtic Insurance Co. and CareSource Indiana Inc. — are proposing rate decreases anywhere from 5 percent to 19 percent.
The four other insurers are proposing rate increases, including one insurer that has requested double-digit rate hikes.
Physicians Health Plan of Northern Indiana Inc. has asked for 14.5 percent increase respectively.
Indiana's largest health insurance provider, Anthem, is proposing a 3.8 percent rate increase — the smallest rate increase being requested.

Another thing to watch on premiums – the Supreme Court's expected decision on federal subsidies.
While most experts say they don't expect federal subsidies to go away, the Supreme Court could still rule that they are illegal. That would likely could create at least a temporary setback for the 200,000 Hoosiers who receive subsidies through the federal exchange.
