Today marks the 25th anniversary of the Hubble Space Telescope launch. Hubble's continuous orbit around Earth allows it to take high-resolution images which give scientists a detailed look of space and time.
Kyoung-Soo Lee, the assistant director of physics and astronomy at Purdue University says that Hubble has been one of the biggest contributions to science.
"You can actually see the sequence of how the galaxies start to appear and form as they grow bigger and larger more and more into the shapes of the galaxies you see today. So I think there's a value in understanding how we've formed and where we came from."
Lee says that the telescope has shaped the field of astronomy and continues to teach scientists about how galaxies first formed and evolved over cosmic time.
She says although the Hubble is not the largest telescope, no other telescope can compare to it in terms of its quality and angular resolution to observe our galaxy.
