In a 302-126 vote Friday, the House of Representatives dealt a devastating blow to a bill—a provision called trade adjustment assistance—that would have given President Obama the ability to fast-track negotiations for his trans-pacific trade deal.
That deal would establish trade rules for 12 countries who make up 40 percent of the world's gross domestic product.
It could made an impact on several of Indiana's industries—specifically agriculture, the automotive industry and the grocery business.
Critics of the bill, specifically some unions, say it would've led to the loss of thousands of U.S. jobs.
