During a meeting Friday, the Indiana Board of Trustees approved designs for a $39.8 million School of Informatics and Computing facility. Between $10 million and $12 million of the building's cost is expected to come from philanthropy.
The new building has been in the works for more than two years — that's including a period of space planning and design.
It will be located on the block between 11th Street and Cottage Avenue close to the school's current building.
Construction will begin this December with plans for the building to be completed in late fall of 2017.
Departments from the school not currently in the main building will make their new home in the facility.
