Lucky's Market celebrated its grand opening Wednesday in Bloomington. Instead of the traditional ribbon, employees sliced a slab of bacon to mark the ceremony.
Lucky's is a Colorado-based local and organic grocery store.
At the ceremony, checks were handed out to several different Bloomington non-profit organizations including Mother Hubbards Cupboard and Middle Way House. Lucky's also has days set aside where they donate 10 percent of sales to a local non-profit.
Greg Johnson, store director at Lucky's, says Bloomington was a good place for this location because it filled a need in the community.
"Seeing the need for a new market for this type [of store] in Bloomington," Johnson says. "Obviously the college town is a good fit for us, we notice a lot of kids are wanting to eat healthier."
Lucky's Bloomington store is its eleventh location and located at a former Marsh on South Walnut street.
