The black bear that wandered into Indiana from Michigan about a month ago isn't quite ready to leave.
The male bear spotted several times in northern Indiana has now moved closer to residential neighborhoods and has been seen on porches.
He's growing bolder and has even started to paw at doors and windows.
Indiana Department of Natural Resources wildlife biologist Budd Veverka says the bear has gotten comfortable with the area and the free meals.
"He's gotten so comfortable to the point where he's kinda lost his fear of people as well and again that is one of the concern areas we have," says Veverka.
The DNR is currently trying to trap the bear and move him back to Michigan. If that doesn't work, DNR officials might have to tranquilize him.
Residents are advised to put away their bird feeders, clean their grills and take out their trash regularly.
