Good morning! Here are a few of the stories on our radar today.
1. The Brown County community is coming together to help raise money for victims of last week's storms—including the family of a man who died while trying to check on his grandmother.
Travis Watkins was swept away by floodwaters during the storm. Rescue crews found his body the next day.
Donations poured in during a gathering Monday night that featured live music and a silent auction.
2. A runway repair project will soon mean the short-term closure of an Indiana airport.
The Columbus Municipal Airport will shut down August 2-10 for the $5.2 million project. Concrete will replace asphalt on the runway intersection.
3. Flooding is still a problem in Parke County, just north of Terre Haute.
Emergency management issued a warning to residents regarding flooding in the area, including Raccoon Lake.
Evacuations at the park took place Friday into Saturday. The property will remain closed until this Friday, but depending on the water levels, that closure could extend through the weekend.
