Police: Investigation Into IU Student's Death Is Ongoing

State police do not plan to release any new information to the public regarding the death of IU student Hannah Wilson until an investigation is complete.

While Indiana State Police are still asking the public for information to Wilson's activities, particularly prior to when he was reported missing Friday afternoon, police said Saturday that they will not provide any additional information beyond what has already been released.

"While members of the Indiana State Police and the Brown County Prosecutor's Office understand the level of public interest associated with this heinous crime, it is of vital importance to not compromise this fluid investigation with the release of information that could prove harmful to the judicial process," a police statement issued Saturday reads.

An autopsy report from Saturday revealed Wilson died of blunt force trauma to the head.

The Herald Times reports Wilson was struck three or four times with an unknown object, according to the Brown County coroner.

Police arrested Daniel E. Messel, 49, yesterday on preliminary murder charges. The Indiana State Police say they will not reveal what led to Messel's arrest until the investigation is finalized.

Two separate vigils were held for Wilson on Saturday. One in Noblesville and one in Bloomington, where friends and families gathered to remember the woman whose life they say was full of happiness.
