The U.S. Department of Education is scrutinizing the use of federal financial aid at some private Indiana colleges because of concerns over financial responsibility and late or missing financial audits.
The colleges are among a list of about 560 institutions included on the so-called "Heightened Cash Monitoring" list.
U.S. Under Secretary of Education Ted Mitchell says monitoring "is not necessarily a red flag to students and taxpayers, but it can serve as a caution light."
Schools on the list may face delays or a stop to student loan payments from the federal government.
The three Indiana colleges on the list are ITT Technical Institute, Medtech College and Lincoln College of Technology.
