Rep. Todd Young, R-Indiana, is quickly adding to his available campaign funds as he considers a running for the Senate seat that Sen. Dan Coats, R-Indiana, will vacate in 2016.
Young has raised more than $410,000 in the first quarter of 2015, according to an FEC report filed today.
The 9th district congressman has a total of more than $1.25 million on hand.
"These fundraising numbers shows there is an overwhelmingly positive response around the state to the idea of a Todd Young senate campaign," campaign spokesman Trevor Foughty said in a statement. "As the Congressman continues to work through a decision, this gives us confidence that such an effort would have the resources needed to win."
After Sen. Coats announced his retirement last month, several potential candidates expressed interest in the seat.
Those include Congressmen Todd Rokita and Marlin Stutzman, in addition to Young.
Coats' chief of staff and former Indiana GOP Chair Eric Holcomb has already announced he is running for the office.
