Sigma Phi Epsilon are the winners of the 65th annual men's Little 500. The race was held Sunday due to inclement weather Saturday.
As cyclists pushed through the final 10 laps, Delta Tau Delta (qualified for 10th) held a solid sprint lead pushing nearly a half of a lap ahead of other front runners. By lap 199 the team fell back in the top five and defending champions, Black Key Bulls (qualified for 6th), pulled through to the front. Sigma Phi Epsilon (qualified for 2nd) and Black Key Bulls fought for first with Sigma Phi Epsilon taking the win by 0.24 seconds.
One crash in turn four took down several top ten teams. The rider who went down, from Alpha Epsilon PI (qualified for 24th) was carried from the track on a stretcher. The team finished in 25th place.
Students held a minute of silence in remembrance of senior Hannah Wilson who went missing early Friday morning. Her body was discovered in Brown County and a suspect in her murder, arrested. Indiana University Provost Lauren Robel spoke to students about Wilson and the promise she held as a senior about to graduate.
All bikes were laced with purple and lime green tape in remembrance of Wilson.
