Temperatures across the state reached record lows Tuesday morning.
In Indianapolis, the temperature dropped to -6 degrees at 7:50 a.m. That's lower than the previous record of -2 degrees set in 1900.
The National Weather Service says wind chills of zero to -10 degrees are expected into the afternoon hours. And, subzero lows will be possible again both Thursday and Friday night.
National Weather Service Hydrologist Al Shipe says the cold weather occurring in southern Indiana is the result of deep snow pack, clear skies and calm winds.
