The amount of reported scams in Indiana has more than doubled in the last few years, according to the Indiana attorney general.
Jaime Barb, spokesperson for the Attorney General's office, says technology has played a part in the dramatic increase of scams.
"Scammers are just getting smarter and there are a lot more ways to scam now with technology," she says.
There were over two thousand scams reported in 2013, with over five thousand reported in 2014.
Barb says most scams are imposter scams, most recently where people call pretending to be the IRS looking for personal information.
