The Vigo County Health Department is offering free HIV testing again on the third Tuesday of each month. Administrator Joni Wise says yesterday's response was low despite high county HIV infections over the past ten years.
"So what we need to look at is what do we know about those cases," Wise says. "And when we look at the intravenous drug use, it's about one percent over the last three years of our newly diagnosed cases."
She says the department is focusing its efforts on HIV prevention through unprotected sex.
Positive Link is handling the free, rapid HIV testing at the Vigo County Health Department Clinic from Noon until 3 p.m.
