Governor Requests Disaster Loans For Tornado-Damaged Areas

Gov. Mike Pence is requesting federal low-interest disaster loans for counties impacted by severe storms in November.

The loans will be based on the damage sustained in Daviess, Fountain and Howard counties.

If approved, U.S. Small Business Administration's disaster loans would be made available for residents, businesses and nonprofits in those three counties as well as all the counties that touch them.

Those include Carroll, Cass, Clinton, Dubois, Grant, Greene, Knox, Martin, Miami, Montgomery, Parke, Pike, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Vermillion, and Warren.

The loans could be used to repair or replace real estate, personal property, machinery, equipment and business assets damaged during the Nov. 17, 2013, tornadoes.

FEMA denied Indiana's request for assistance earlier this month, forcing the state to look at other options.
