White house officials have announced that President Obama will be in Indianapolis Friday for a tour of the Allison transmission plant. The company has been a ground breaker in hybrid technology. The president is calling for reduced U.S. oil imports through new and cleaner technologies.
Allison's new facility will have the capacity to produce 20,000 commerical-duty hybrid propulsion systems--the kind of alternative technology Obama sees as a chance to reduce U.S. oil imports by one-third by 2025.
