Two More Bloomington City Employees Test Positive For COVID-19

Health officials wanted the grant to hire new staff members.

The City of Bloomington said two employees tested positive for COVID-19 Thursday, bringing the total of city employees who have tested positive to eight. 

According to a press release, both employees work in the City of Bloomington Utilities Transmission and Distribution services division. They were tested for the virus after a contact tracing effort linked them to another city employee who tested positive on Monday.

Both have been self-isolating after experiencing symptoms on July 17 and 19, respectively. They have been placed on paid leave while they recover.

Neither employee interacts with the public during their usual work.

On Friday, Indiana broke its record of new positive cases of COVID-19, with 1,011 new cases reported. A statewide mask order to combat transmission will go into effect Monday.
